1) Product Description and images
The smaller the step angle of the stepping motor, the larger the number of steps per revolution, and the higher the position accuracy. The step angle is as large as 90 degrees and as small as 0.72 degrees. The commonly used step angles are 1.8 degrees, 2.5 degrees, 7.5 degrees and 15 degrees.
The direction of rotation of the stepper motor shaft depends on the pulse sequence applied to the stator. The speed of the shaft or the average motor speed is proportional to the frequency of the input pulse applied to the excitation winding (the rate of the input pulse). Therefore, if the frequency is low, the stepping motor will rotate gradually, while for high frequency, it will rotate continuously like a DC motor due to inertia.

Like all motors, stepping motors have stators and rotors. The rotor is a movable part without windings, brushes and commutators. And the rotor of the stepping motor is a variable reluctance or permanent magnet. The stator is usually composed of multi-pole and multi-phase windings, and usually consists of three-phase or four-phase windings. The required number of poles is determined by the required angular displacement of each input pulse.
Unlike other motors, stepper motors operate using programmed discrete control pulses, which are applied to the stator windings by electronic drivers and are rotated by the magnetic interaction between the magnetic poles of the stator windings and the rotor poles that are sequentially energized.
There are many types of stepper motors in the market today. Their sizes, steps, structures, wiring, transmission devices and other electrical characteristics are different. Because these motors can operate in discrete mode, stepping motors are very suitable for connecting digital control equipment such as computers.
The precise control of the speed, rotation, direction and angular position of the stepping motor is particularly concerned in industrial process control systems, CNC machines, robots, manufacturing automation systems and instruments.
