Overview

The DM860H is a new generation digital 2-phase stepper motor driver, based on a 32-bit DSP processor, combination of the anti-resonance, low noise, micro-step and low temperature rise technology significantly improve the performance of the stepper motor, has low noise, small vibration, low temperature rise and high-speed torque. The driver use online adaptive PID technology, without manual adjustment can be automatically generated optimal parameters for different motors, and achieve the best performance. Supply voltage range from 18VAC to 80VAC or from 24VDC to 110VDC, suitable for driving various 2-phase hybrid stepping motors which phase current below 7.2A. The microstep can be set from full step to 51200steps/rev and the output current can be set form 2.4A to 7.2A; with automatic idle-current reduction, self-test, overvoltage, under-voltage and over-current protection.

What are stepper motors and stepper drives?

 

Stepper motor is a special motor specially used for precise control of speed and position. It runs step by step at a fixed angle (called "step angle"), so it is called stepper motor. Its characteristic is that there is no accumulated error. It receives every pulse signal from the controller, and the motor runs at a fixed angle under the drive of the driver, so it is widely used in various open loop control.

 

The stepper driver is a power amplifier that can make the stepper motor run. It can convert the pulse signal sent by the controller into the power signal of the stepper motor. The speed of the motor is proportional to the pulse frequency, so the control pulse frequency can be adjusted accurately. Accurate positioning can be achieved by controlling the number of pulses.

 

What is driver segmentation? What is the relation between the speed of stepping motor and pulse frequency?


Due to the unique structure of the stepping motor, it is marked with "inherent step Angle of the motor" when leaving the factory (for example, 0.9°/1.8°, indicating that the rotation Angle of each step of the half-step is 0.9° and that of the whole step is 1.8°).


However, in many precision control and occasions, the whole step Angle is too large, affecting the control accuracy, and vibration is too large, so many steps are required to complete a motor natural step Angle, which is the so-called subdivision drive, the electronic device that can achieve this function is called the subdivision driver.
